Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the fleet supervisors, the Automotive & Equipment Mechanic Technician Assistant with help support the fleet managements daily functions and provide support to the service department mechanics.

Job Duties:
• Maintains a preventive maintenance program on all equipment.
• Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered.
• Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. Skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs.
• Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventive maintenance work.
• Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories and related items.
• Performs general overhaul of motors, reels, install and adjusts braking systems. Inspects, changes and repairs tires.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications: ASE Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of standard practices and methods of automotive maintenance and equipment repair (gasoline and/or diesel); skilled in the maintenance and/or repair of automotive vehicles and other gasoline and/or diesel equipment; ability to use diagnostic equipment; ability to operate a wide variety of vehicle, forklifts, heavy and other equipment; ability to use tools of the trade; hand tools, and power tools; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.
